In Surah al-Qadr (97:1) and Surah al-Dukhan (44:3), it is mentioned that the Qur'an was revealed on this night. Ibn Abbas has explained this by mentioning on Laylatul-Qadr that the Qur'an was revealed in its entirety from the highest heaven to the lowest heaven, and placed in a special chamber called Bayt al-`Izzah (the House of Honor).
